What You Should Know About Cannabidiol and How CBD Is Helping People – Pot, weed, cush, hash, broccoli, dope, cannabis…. regardless of the many nicknames for Marijuana the Cannabidiol (CBD) it contains is helping thousands of people if not more! It’s easy to see the many articles relating to CBD as soon as you type in the words nearly 11 million articles pop up. It’s helping adults and children with many different conditions, even pets are finding relief. So why is this plants make-up that can help so many people not being used more?
*Because I am by no means an expert in this area, I searched out some help with some of these hard questions. Always ask your doctor what’s best for you!
What is CBD –
Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of 85 compounds called cannabidiods found in the cannabis/marijuana plant.
When someone uses CBD do they get high?
According to Healthy Hemp Oil, “No, it can’t. The reason for this is that the process of extracting CBD is unlikely to produce oil contaminated with THC (THC is the compound with psychotropic effects, that gives you the high feeling), and CBD on its own has no ability to get you high. Why does CBD help people?
According to HERB “Cannabinoids are agonists that bind to special receptors on your cells, called cannabinoid receptors. Certain receptors are heavily concentrated in the central nervous system while others are found in almost every organ of the body. Cannabinoid receptors are even found in the skin, digestive tract, and even in the reproductive organs.”
“You can think of agonists as keys and cannabinoid receptors as locks. By consuming cannabis, you are taking in agonists that interact with different locks on cells in the body. Together, these cell receptors make up a larger endocannabinoid system (ECS).” Read more here
How long does CBD take to work?
Healthy Hemp Oil states “CBD generally can take from a few minutes to a couple of hours to work properly, depending on the dosage, the method of consumption and the symptom you want to combat.” Read more here
Is CBD currently legal in any states?
According to HERB “United States, the legality of CBD may depend on where it was sourced. There are two types of CBD products available: products derived from “hemp” and products derived from “marijuana”. The CBD found in both of these plants is the same, it’s the legal definition that is not.
Under the United States Controlled Substances Act, all cannabis products are considered a schedule 1 drug. That means that they have no accepted medical value and possession of such a substance can result in criminal penalties. Recently, the DEA published a new rule that lumps CBD products into the category of “cannabis extracts”.” Read more here
